when i heard the news
i wanted to call you, make sure everything was alright
but i didn't
when i entered the room and saw you
our eyes met for the briefest of moments. I wanted to give you a big smile
but i didn't
you were sitting quietly by yourself and
i wanted to go over, sit by your side and just listen
but i didn't
afterwards when it was time to leave
i wanted to say a proper goodbye
but i didn't
